The Game I Play To Stay Calm Before Speaking

    Read Time: 1 Minute

Do you hate feeling nervous before you need to speak?

Butterflies are normal. But when these things begin to happen, it can feel like the worst:

    • Your shaky voice is getting in the way of people having confidence in you
    • You stammer and worry people won’t think you’re intelligent
    • You forget what you need to say and freeze
    • You mumble as quickly as possible to get through your talk

What if I told you that we could take inspiration from rap music to turn all of this around and conquer your fears?

When I freestyle rapped in my teens and twenties, I acted like a different person compared to the nervous wreck I was when speaking at work:

    • I spoke fluidly
    • I spoke freely
    • I spoke confidently
    • I had fun

So I invented "The Freestyle Game" to channel my inner rapper whenever I'd feel nervous.

You can watch the video to play along with me. The goal is simple -- try to speak as fluidly as you can while rhyming a particular word. Go to www.randomwordgenerator.com to rhyme off a random word.
